The cylinder head sets how much air an engine can move, which makes it one of the biggest power upgrades available. The American makers on this page cast aluminum heads in their own foundries or machine and assemble them in-house, for small- and big-block Chevy, LS, small-block Ford, Mopar and V6 engines.
The range runs from emissions-legal street heads to CNC-ported race heads and billet heads for professional drag racing. Heads are usually sold bare (no valves or springs) or assembled. Matching intake manifolds are on their own page, and valves, springs and rocker arms are under valve train.

Bare or assembled?
A bare head lets an engine builder choose the valves, springs and retainers. An assembled head comes ready to bolt on with parts matched by the maker. Either way, check the valve angle, chamber size and intake port volume against the pistons, camshaft and intake manifold you plan to use.
