Most tires sold in the US are imported, but several tire companies still run large American plants. The makers on this page build passenger, light truck, commercial truck and aircraft tires in plants across the South and Midwest, alongside plants overseas.
Because the same tire line can come from more than one plant, the country of origin is printed on each tire's sidewall rather than set by the brand. Brake drums, hubs and spoke wheels for heavy trucks are on the brakes page.

Goodyear makes passenger, light truck, commercial truck and aircraft tires, sold through tire dealers and its own service centers. Its US plants include former Cooper Tire factories.
Made in: Lawton, OK; Fayetteville, NC (passenger and light truck tires; set to close in 2027); Topeka, KS (light and medium truck tires); Danville, VA (aircraft tires); Tupelo, MS, Findlay, OH and Texarkana, AR (passenger and light truck tires). Goodyear also makes tires outside the US, so the DOT code on the sidewall shows which plant made a tire.

How to tell where a tire was made
Every tire sold in the US carries a DOT code on the sidewall. The two or three characters right after "DOT" are the plant code, which identifies the factory that built it, and the last four digits give the week and year it was made. Many sidewalls also print the country of manufacture. Check the tire itself, not just the brand, before you buy.
