The fuel system meters air and fuel into the engine. American makers on this page build four-barrel carburetors from 500 to 950 cfm in North Carolina, including marine carburetors built to Coast Guard standards, and CNC-machine throttle bodies for Ford, GM, Dodge, Ram and Jeep engines.

Throttle bodies feed the intake manifold, and carburetors bolt to it, so the two are often bought together. Cold air intakes are on the air intakes page.

Sizing a carburetor or throttle body

Bigger is not always better. A carburetor or throttle body that flows more air than the engine can use can soften throttle response at low speed. Most makers publish sizing guides based on engine size and the rpm range you drive in.
