Wet/dry shop vacuums used to be built in Pennsylvania by Shop-Vac, but its main production moved overseas in 2023. Dustless Technologies still assembles its contractor-grade wet/dry vacuums in Price, Utah.
A wet/dry vac is mostly its tank and motor, and both are often imported. Each listing is rated for the company's most American-made line and says what is known to come from elsewhere.
Dustless Technologies makes DustlessVac wet/dry and HEPA vacuums, slurry vacuums and dust shrouds for saws, grinders and drills, used by contractors, concrete and flooring crews and do-it-yourselfers to keep work sites dust-free. The family company started in 1983 and is based in Price, Utah.
Dustless lists its 16-gallon wet/dry and HEPA vacuums under "Buy American Act Compliant" and quotes Popular Mechanics calling the vacuum "a sophisticated American-made product." Its showroom profile says "Proudly made in the USA since 1988." Its own pages don't say which parts it makes.
A 2021 state economic development article said the company "traditionally used Chinese injection molding for many of its plastic components" for its shrouds and vacuums and began 3D printing parts in Price to replace them. A 2023 trade article quoted the company as saying "60 percent are made overseas now," down from 75 percent. Where the motor and the tank are made isn't stated.
Production history: Dustless began in 1983 as Mike Loveless's garage project in Utah and assembles in Price, where about 50 people worked in 2023. Since about 2020 it has 3D printed more of its own parts with its sister company Merit3D. We found no 2025-26 news about the plant, and no move or closing.
Our rough estimate: imported or likely imported parts (motor, tank and other overseas components) are about 50–70% of the value.
Level 3 for its DustlessVac 16-gallon wet/dry and HEPA vacuums: Dustless Technologies assembles its wet/dry vacuums in Price, Utah, but said in 2023 that about 60 percent of its components were made overseas.
"Buy American Act compliant" isn't the same as all-American. Dustless lists its vacuums as compliant, but the company said in 2023 that about 60 percent of its components were made overseas.
Some makers are bringing parts home. Dustless has been 3D printing more of its own parts in Utah to replace overseas molding.
Each listing's research notes show what was checked and when, including our rough estimate of how much of the value is imported.
