Most of our knives are made with 440C stainless steel blades. They are cryogenically treated, which means that they have been frozen down to -305 degrees below zero for just under four hours. The edge holding properties are thus greatly enhanced! It is not unusual for hunters and guides to tell us that they have skinned and butchered up to five elk without having to sharpen their cryogenically treated knife.

Each of our knives is totally handmade, and when a knife is completed, it is then fitted with a sheath made just for that knife. Since the knives are all made by "eye", with no patterns, no two are exactly alike. Any knives you purchase will be unique, and no one else will have one exactly like one of yours! I design all of my own knives and love seeing my ideas come to life by my own hard work. I make knives by the stock removal method and pride myself on turning out a knife with the best fit and finish possible. All of my knives are fully functional and I am confident that once used, prove to be a superior cutting tool. However the artist in me seeks to make a knife that is a pleasure to behold as well. I strive to make each knife such that the materials used blend together in harmony, I think you will agree that none of my knives are too plain and yet none are to busy either.

Except for the old horseshoes that I forge into some interesting items, I use the finest materials and I pay a lot of attention to my workmanship. Every one of my knives is unique, and hand made to your specifications. If I can't be proud of it, I won't let it out of my shop.

Idaho Knife Works

Quality Custom Knives created by Padre & Coyote Woman at their remote log home in the mountains of North Idaho. He made his first knife - 1965 High School Shop class in Illinois where he grew up hunting and fishing with his brothers on The Family Farm, homesteaded in 1869. His passion for making knives as a hobby gradually developed into a full time business. He has won OBest Primitive Knife several times at Professional Knifemaker Shows in Denver. His work has been featured in Tactical Knives, Backwoodsman, Blade, Knives Illustrated, Guns of the Old West, Muzzle Blast Magazines along with several other publications. His years of experience as an outdoorsman and appreciation for our historical past guide his artistic expression in the functional knives he builds.
