Slacks Jelly Farm
Back in the summer of 1954 Violet Slack made some jam from the wild blackberries that grew at that time along the dusty gravel roads. She and her husband, Earl, sold the jam door-to-door along with bakery goods and eggs from their farm, to tourists staying in cabins around the Lake Wisconsin area. The jam was very popular, and soon the family was engaged in making several varieties and selling them by personal delivery, mail and in a few stores.
