Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Benchcrafted was founded in 2005 producing some of the finest workbench hardware available anywhere. They're a small, family company with just a handful of employees and plan to keep it that way.

All of the vise hardware is manufactured and assembled in the United States using premium materials and state of the art processes.

Lake Erie Tool Works

Lake Erie Toolworks has been in business since July 2008 designing, building and selling the finest quality woodworking tools available. Their vises are made in Pennsylvania using Hard Maple grown locally as well as from Canada. The lumber is custom sawn and dried by wood suppliers who specialize in large diameter wood stock. All of their hardware and metal stock is also sourced from domestic and Canadian suppliers (Lee Valley).

5 stars: Virtually the entire product is assembled by American workers using US sourced parts.
4 stars: (4.0-4.9) This product may contain a small percentage (value wise) of foreign made materials. The item may contain one to several outsourced parts, but in total they add up to a relatively small percentage of the over all value of the product.
3 stars: (3.0-3.9) A greater proportion of this product contains foreign based materials. It may be only be one item but that or those items add up to a more significant value of the product.
2 stars: (2.0-2.9) This product contains mostly or all foreign made materials but is assembled in the US.
1 star: We could not determine or the manufacturer did not provide enough details as to the amount of materials are made in the US. One should not automatically assume the product does not contain any US made parts or labor, they may in fact be made entirely in the US, but we simply were not able to give an accurate estimate to the amount.

Some of the companies in the above list might also manufacture vices in other countries as well. This fact will not lower their overall rating, as we evaluated only their American made items.
