Made in Holyoke, MA

Holyoke, Massachusetts, historically known as "The Paper City," was a major industrial hub in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, driven by its strategic location along the Connecticut River.
Originally planned as an industrial city in the 1840s, Holyoke became the world’s largest producer of writing paper, contributing 80% of U.S. writing paper by the late 19th century, and hosted the largest paper mills globally.

While traditional paper manufacturing has largely declined today, specialty paper manufacturers continue operations.

Holyoke’s manufacturing sector is diversifying into clean tech and high-tech industries, supported by initiatives like the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center, which opened in 2012, and the HardTech Holyoke event, which promotes the city as a hub for advanced manufacturing.

The cannabis industry has also emerged, employing about 500 people in cultivation and retail since legalization.
