About Travis Knives
The name for the Smithwick was inspired by Noah Smithwick, an early Texas blacksmith and bladesmith who claims to have made the knife that Jim Bowie was carrying when he died in the Alamo. He also fought the Comanches at the Block House Fight, which took place where my elementary school later stood. And he founded the town of Smithwick in Burnet County, where my family later settled. It seemed appropriate to name one of my first knife designs after him.
