Leavitt Custom Knives
Will Leavitt uses high carbon steels like 1084, which he feels makes a better working knife. Carbon steels require some "experimentation" to nail the heat treat. He prefers to work with hardwoods like cocobolo, redwood burl, various maples, bocote and ironwood. He's also been known to use micarta or G10 for work blades, He hand rubs the finishes on all his knives.
